Viewed from outside, the petite building resembles an old-fashioned western coffee house with tables and pot plants scattered about the front porch. Step inside to find a celebration of bright colours, with black and white checkered flooring, leafy green ceilings, orange walls, and comfortable sofas covered in a captivating array of vibrant cushions, creating a dynamic ambience. The walls are covered in beautifully framed vintage English posters.
The name "abah" is a Betawi term for someone who is older and wiser, and this is captured with a straight-to-the-point menu. The specialty Abah Coffee is served in an hour glass shaped two tiered coffee pot filled with Arabica Sumatra coffee and percolated at the table on a small burner. The steaming hot coffee is served with Singkong Abah, a traditional Indonesian snack made of cassava which has been boiled with garlic, then deep fried to a golden brown.
If you need to cool down after a long day in the hot sun, I personally recommend Abah Nut, a refreshing drink made from simple ingredients like espresso, mocha ice cream, whipped cream and thin slivers of almonds, perfected with the personal touch of the Abah barrista team who are always happy to hear comments about their creations. Avocado lovers will enjoy the Avocado Coffee Float, a thick and creamy drink made of blended avocado, espresso, and vanilla ice cream, topped with chocolate powder and shaved chocolate. This drink is particularly special due to the interesting blend of avocado with strong, bitter espresso and the revitaliasing sweet kick from the vanilla ice cream.
It is estimated that 70% of the world consumes an Arabica blend which is mild and aromatic, and Abah Coffee specialising in coffee drinks made from the best selection of Arabica Sumatra, Bali Coffee, Java Mocha and Coffee Lanang all are at reasonable price and premium quality. You can also try the famous Luwak Coffee, the most exotic and luxurious coffee in the world. \MA
